Cozy Fall Decorating…In the Entryway

“A glittery pumpkin looks cozy, nestled in a pumpkin patch of silver and crystal…

When the front door opens, the entryway is the first impression people see of your home. If you’re like me, you want your entryway to be welcoming and have enough sparkle and intrigue that whoever walks through the doorway will be enticed and want to see what’s around the next corner. In our entryway, our antique buffet is a bold statement piece, and I like to “dress it” for every season. In today’s blog, you’ll see how, with just a few additions, you can easily transition the decor in your entryway to fit any season.

Autumn touches are tucked in with all the sparkle on the buffet…leaves and berries, lots of candlelight, and a glowing pumpkin add to the allure of the entryway.

Add seasonal touches among the objects you already have displayed…Don’t be overwhelmed and feel like you have to change all the decor you already have displayed. In the picture below, I only added a spray of autumn leaves that I intertwined among the plates, silverware, coffee service, ice bucket, and other items that are needed on our buffet…then I changed the cranberry-colored tapers I had in the candle holders, to gold tapers (to match the gold tapers on the dining room table – see last week’s post) and placed a single, golden votive with cut-outs of autumn leaves.

There is a first leaf to turn
There is a last leaf to fall

And in the space between the two
The grandest show of all

Add decor accents that are associated with the season you are decorating for…pumpkins, acorns, squirrels, peasants, turkeys, and other woodland creatures are synonymous with autumn.

I always enjoy creating little scenes with my decorations…here a brass pheasant struts along the top of the buffet. It’s easy to imagine that his home could be under the cluster of autumn leaves nearby, among the golden tapers.

To enhance the look of your decorations, add seasonal leaves, flowers, vegetables, and fruits to your decor…Leaves with little blackberries add contrast to all the shine on the buffet. A biscuit barrel with a silver lid and a crystal champagne bucket filled with silverware seem even more brilliant, surrounded by the autumn leaves tinged in rosy hues.

"There is magic in the nights when pumpkins glow by moonlight."

The only autumn decor I added to this side of the buffet were some more sprigs of the rose-colored autumn leaves and a glittery pumpkin that looks cozy, nestled in a pumpkin patch of silver and crystal.
