Winter Celebrations and Tablescape
Setting a pretty tablescape after the Christmas decorations are put away can be challenging, but with 2 very special birthday celebrations this month, I wanted the table to glow and set about creating an enchanting woodland tablescape that would be fitting, “In the Bleak Midwinter.”
A blue and green tartan runner topped with a garland of pine…bottlebrush trees shimmering with copper glitter…cedar rounds on a staircase stand…and glowing, birch candles seem to reflect the mood of the winter night beyond our window.
“At the window of my house I looked out through the lattice.” Proverbs 7:6
Chunky birch pillar candles and the narrower, birch taper candles in the candelabra accent the forest theme. Roasted almonds look fetching piled in a vintage candy dish and placed on a cedar round. Bread sticks, sprinkled with sea salt and rosemary, are easy to grab, stacked in a crystal glass.
I chose this platter, embossed with leaves and pine boughs, and a large silver tray for our forest themed buffet and snacks.
To augment the woodland theme, I placed rustic, wood slices on this quaint stand and put all our paper plates, napkins, and cutlery, “going up the stairs”…easy to see and for everyone to serve themselves! Smaller, cedar rounds on the table act as pedestals for decorative bowls that hold gingersnaps, star shaped cinnamon cookies, peanut butter filled pretzels, and almonds.
The romance on the table shines out into the winter night. Patio lights draped outside add another twinkle to the starry sky and moonlit lake.
The night will never stay, The night will still go by, Though with a million stars You pin it to the sky, Though you bind it with the blowing wind And buckle it with the moon, The night will slip away Like a sorrow or a tune.

Hope this gave you some ideas and sparked your creativity for styling your own tablescapes in 2026…and for many celebrations ahead! Praying for blessings for you in this new year, “To Him who is able to do exceeding, abundantly above all we ask of think.” Ephesians 3:20
"And on a sudden, lo! the level lake, And the long glories of the winter moon."
