Richard and I enjoy the nostalgia of browsing around in antique stores…traipsing up the aisles of flea markets…or making our way through overgrown grasses to barn and estate sales and looking at forgotten treasures. We never know what we’re going to find on our adventures and it’s always exhilarating whenever “our finds” are also wonderful bargains.

These elegant, crystal flutes with gold rimmed edges were only $2.50 each! Total cost – $10.00

Trying not to get my hopes up, I timidly opened a little Swarovski crystal box I spotted on the shelf of an estate sale. I’m a violinist and I was enchanted when I saw this tiny, crystal violin inside. Swarovski crystal violin and golden stand – Cost – $4.50

We found a beautiful sterling silverware set which included this 5-piece Hostess set and…

4 teaspoons and…

this entire, 4 pc. place setting, service for 8, sterling silverware set. All of the 32 pieces of silverware, plus the 5-piece Hostess set (pictured above) …8 dessert spoons…and the 4 teaspoons (pictured above) were included in the cost.
Total cost – $12. 50!

When I saw this sweet sugar bowl with the indentation for a spoon, I could already imagine it filled with ruby red, cherry preserves, sitting on our breakfast table.
Cost $8.00

I love salt cellars, and I have a collection we use with tiny, sterling silver spoons. I was delighted when I found these beautiful, multi-faceted, crystal salt cellars to add to my collection.
Cost $2.50 each, Total Cost – $5.00

The needlework on these pillowcases is exquisite and must have taken some dear person many hours to complete. Both cases are in pristine shape and don’t have any tears, holes, or aging, plus have no signs of ever being used! I can hardly wait to wash them in Oxy Clean Laundry Whitener (great for washing antique linens) and slip them over the pillows in the bedroom upstairs I affectionately call “The Feathered Nest.” (:
The pillowcases were only $1.00 each! Total cost – $2.00
It's amazing how lovely common things become, if one only knows how to look at them. ~ Louisa May Alcott

The colors on this 24″ x 15″ stained-glass window of grapes are so vibrant and beautiful. I’m planning on hanging it in front of the windows of my Cottage Potting Shed. (More about that charming new addition here at Cottage Green on the Lake in another post!)
Cost of stained glass – $20.00

Oh, my goodness, I was thrilled when Richard found this stack of Fitz & Floyd Renaissance salad plates. They look new…have no knife markings or scratches, and there were 18 plates!
Cost of all 18 plates – only $3.00!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now…look how gorgeous they look paired with my Fitz & Floyd Florentine bowls that I found during another adventure!

Now, I don’t want you to think that Richard didn’t find anything! (: Here are a few of the items my dear, Huckleberry friend found on our excursions.
3 Bobble Head Figures that he collects for his office @ $10.00 each – Total cost $30.00
A government issued Army backpack Cost – $15.00
A Government issued Army military flashlight Cost – $2.99
2 Deep saltwater rod and reels – $10.00 each! Total cost $20.00
We’ve been wanting some “deep sea” fishing poles to take in our camper whenever we go back to the coast! These fishing poles with reels are in excellent shape and would have cost hundreds of dollars if we’d bought them in the store! We can hardly wait to use them and already have them safely stored away in the storage compartment under the RV! (:

Thank you, Sherry! I was happy to see how well the 2 different Fitz & Floyd patterns matched and how pretty they looked together! It made me want to do a Portuguese tablescape! (: I wish you lived nearby; I would happily share and give you some of our extra plates! ❤ Trenda

Love your flea market fines!!! I can’t believe the great prices for these!! I also like to browse around at flea markets, as you already know! You really got some great treasures that you can use and are in excellent safe!! I am planning a “Junking Adventure” with a friend of mine soon and hopefully we can find some good bargains!!! It’s so much fun to browse around these places even if I can’t find what I am looking for. Keep sending your blogs, they are so interesting and helpful in decorating. Love you, Pat
